A third generation Colt Single Action Army in .45 Colt, factory engraved with full scroll coverage and finished in bright nickel. Genuine stag grips and the original blue Colt presentation box.
This Colt Single Action Army is documented in a Colt historian’s letter dated April 10, 2023. The letter records a .45 Long Colt revolver with a 5½-inch barrel, nickel finish and stag grips without medallions. It also confirms factory Class C standard level scroll engraving. The engraver’s name is not listed.
The photographs show scrollwork across the barrel, frame and cylinder, with further engraving on the trigger guard and backstrap. Fine shading and textured backgrounds define the curved leaves and scrolls. Smooth areas remain between the engraved sections, including the cylinder flutes. The nickel surface catches the light differently across these areas, making some parts appear bright and others dark in the photographs.
The stag grip panels vary in color and texture. One side has a largely smooth, warm cream surface with darker markings near the base. The opposite panel has more extensive brown texture near its upper and lower edges. These differences are visible in the close views of both sides.
According to the letter, Colt shipped the revolver to Armsmear II in Anaheim, California, on June 24, 1993. The record lists one firearm of the same type in that shipment. That entry describes the shipment quantity and does not establish that this configuration was unique. The shipment date also should not be treated as an exact manufacture date.
The accompanying photographs show a blue Colt-branded box, a Custom Gun Shop specification label, printed Colt literature, a warning tag and the historian’s letter. The label agrees with the letter on caliber, barrel length, finish, engraving class, and grip material. Together, these materials document the recorded factory configuration; they do not establish its present mechanical condition or an unfired history.
